That's typically my method of eBay purchasing as well. It's just the best way to get the lowest price. If you give people 7 days to see how much and if they want to raise their bids, it just raises the overall price. I know it sucks, it's happened to me many times that I've lost an item because of them, but it is definitely the best way to approach an online auction.
