Kid Robot store server

Post  Eric on Thu May 26, 2011 10:36 pm

So, this morning, against my better judgement I tried in vain to once again do business with Kid Robot's on line store. I'm not a big Huck Gee fan but the figures for sale this morning looked cool enough to buy one and show it on AFTimes. I was there on time. I was using a fast connection through work. I put one in my cart and..................nothing. 3 time! Nothing. It took my info and everything and still couldn't process the order. I'm done with KR. I'll stick to Jamungo and 3A. The qulaity of the product is miles above whatever KR has and at least I know when I order the server will work. Piss off KR. You saved me $100.00 today.

I've never purchased a dunny before, or anything from Huck Gee, but I really liked the Raku designs for today's KR release. But, like you Eric, their store server went Kaplooey with me. I can't tell what was happening with all of the errors I was receiving. I'm not sure, but I think I may have managed to score the Day version. My CC company even called me to ask me if everything was OK because KR was charging and then canceling and then charging me 1 cent, etc. Who knows??? I wanted both, though... Evil or Very Mad

It's just crap!

Post  Eric on Fri May 27, 2011 12:12 am

This isn't the first time this has happened. It's sort of like giving that good looking girl who stood you up a second chance and being left at the curb waiting for her to show.

KR should know by now how much traffic some of thier products will generate and make allowances for it. They don't though and people like us get screwed out of the chance to buy something they want. Like I said I am finished with them. They can shove their dunnys where the sun doesn't shine. They won't get a cent of my cash ever.

I totally understand how you feel.
But look at Roto when 'Got Away Clean' was released...

Well, Kirby took care of it in the best possible way.
Maybe that's the difference scratch

The difference is that you have the name of a person. Kirby, FERG, VanBeater (and plenty of other cool folk) - all people I've been able to go to with issues in the past, and all have been friendly and helpful. These people want you to be happy with their products; maybe you'll even buy more of them. With KidRobot, you're dealing with a company run by more than one or two people and the personal touch is lost. One of the reasons that artist owned companies are the best.

I agree.
But they don't need to care since people (you and I) buy their stuff anyway.
It's the same thing with 3A and their delivery time.

However, Rotos apparently had some problem with the release as well pale

Three A is NOT THE SAME. When you PRE-ORDER your product from 3A there is a caviot that clearly reads that it is a PRE ORDER and is due out at such and such a time frame. Have they been late? Yes. Has it been worth the wait. For me a resounding yes. Shocker Toys puts out crap willy nilly. It arrives broken and as much as a year or more late. That's fact. Other companies have done the same. Deliver it quick and the hell with quality. I have been buying toys for over 20 years and the quality of Ash's toys is hard to beat.

Kid Robot COUOLD and SHOULD do something about the server problems but they don't. It is a clear slap at people who would like to get their product and give them their cash. Hence, I am done with them.

As for 3A. I have yet to be disappointed with any of the dozens of figures I have purchased.

Happens during 3A sales all the time too - especially limited or secret releases. You have the item in your cart, the server bogs down and someone cart jacks it out from under you. Just one of the many reasons I quit buying their stuff. Quality is great, but the frustration level and wait time knocks that down to about 10%.

I hear what you're saying. Yeah Ash makes "limited" colorways available during drops. However, that doesn't stop you from getting the regular colorways (unless it's a 3AA and you're not a member). I've been cartjacked before. Is it frustrating? Yeah. has it stopped me from getting what I want..NO. I'll keep trying until I get it or tire of the chase. KR only needs to upgrade their server to handle the traffic. It's been this way since the beginning. I'm not going to debate whether 3A makes the best stuff on earth. I love their stuff and the wait doesn't bother me in the least. I know it's coming and when it gets to me I'm happy. It's not for everybody. I guess niether is Kid Robot.

IT IS THE SAME (almost)!
People whine about the delivery time (and yes, 3A clearly state the delivery time but maybe people don't read it).
Personally I don't have an issue with the delivery times WHEN I buy from 3A.

So what I'm saying is:
If you have issues with the way a producer handle their business stop supporting them.

I didn't mean for this to be a pissing contest between 3A and KR. My decision is to not buy from them. End of story.

There's no contest, just an example.
But you're doing the right thing Smile

The vast majority of the time, when there is an oversell issue, it is actually PAYPAL'S problem. Paypal is not designed to prevent mass oversells, it has constant issues with accurate inventory counts. Paypal is a nightmare for big releases. Rotofugi doesn't even take Paypal anymore on big drops. They take CC only, that way you minimize the oversells. Even so, oversells and issues are gonna happen, and it's something we all have to accept. I think that most companies and shops do what they can to prevent them.

I think KR's issue is with their site. They also have way more people trying to buy at once. I would think that upping the bandwidth could take care of some pretty basic KR problems. I've always been pretty lucky when I needed to get stuff through them, but I feel your pain if you got the shaft this time.

i did it the old fashion way and stood in line at KR for the red Raku version
scored them and met Huck Gee cheers
however, I did try getting the black version as well at a lot of other retailor online sites last night and came up empty handed
so no one seemed to have the answer
