I'm an IT guy at a small electronics design company in the UK. Best benefit of the job is that I can walk to work from home in 10 minutes.. lol!

Seriously gone off computers in the almost 20 years I've been in the business.. They can be seriously frustrating!! mad2

I am a designer at a ad agency called Swanson Russell in Lincoln NE. That's my day job. It's an amazing group of people. I love it. We make good work for our clients.

Chip I'm sure we'll bump into each other one of these days!

We just need to make that happen! Very Happy

I've worked in sales. It was auto sales for about 8 years, most recently, I worked as a licensed Futures & Commodities broker for the past 6 years.

Currently, I am self-employed but not generating a very good income, which most people (pessimists) call this unemployment Wink

I am working on a few artistic projects (toys...what else?) and, also some non-fiction writing. I would like to work in the creative field or maybe apply some creativity to the financial field... I guess the sky is the limit now that the career reset button has been pressed.

Also, im applying to the Art Institute in Chicago, anyone there that can give me some idea of how hard it is to get in?

I mean, I get that the school is tops, but for MFAs is it that hard? any input would be awesome, peeps.

I do know someone who just graduated and get more info for you. It's a fantastic school And an awesome Museum Smile in which you could spend days wandering around if you really like art. I would guess that like with any and every school, some intel on courses & professors could make things easier especially going for a MFA. Let me know specifics to ask.

...and of course anything else you want to know about Chicago.

Lotsa past/present CAD drafters up in herezzzzzzzz! Very Happy

The drafting industry has really slowed down the last few years. Very limited jobs unless you want to get into 3d modeling or the tool and die industry.

Most Engineers and Architects must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, nowadays. I work for an Agricultural contractor in the Engineering department as a draftsman. Over the last 12 years I have worked for Architects, Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineers and metal fabricating shops. Its been a rough road, but I truly love my job and what I do! flower

Now, I would like to find a job that pays 3 times as much $$$, for 3 times less work/hours. geek

I actually don't mind managing. I find it very rewarding taking a kid fresh from school and undoing all the damage that college does so that they can be useful professional designers. Cool

Plus there is an odd satisfaction when someone you manage does well that is very different from designing another identity set or product package. Its hard to explain.
